I just came across these two interesting issued patents on concatenative synthesis:
- S. Basu, I. Simon, D. Salesin, M. Agrawala, A. Sherwani, and C. Gibson, “Creating Music via Concatenative Synthesis,” U.S. Patent 7,737,354, filed June 15, 2006, and issued June 15, 2010.
- T. Jehan, “Creating Music by Concatenative Synthesis,” U.S. Patent 7,842,874, filed June 15, 2007, and issued November 30, 2010.
Just one word difference in their titles, and the latter patent was filed on the same day as the former one for one year; yet both are granted. That is strange.
