“Ismirality”

I quite like the spirit of this new term coined by Alan Marsden at a recent workshop on music similarity:

Ismirality: talking about music in a manner typical of ISMIR papers.

To avoid Ismirality, he says to remember:

  • Music is not just a document
  • Music is not just acoustic data
  • Music is a trace of human behaviour
