Artificial Stupidity

Last night, the QMUL Artificial Intelligence Society hosted the talk, “The Singularity (or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love AI)” by Prof J. Mark Bishop. He provided a convincing “take-down” of recent doomsday forecasts of AI surpassing human intelligence, and at the same time highlighted the current and real dangers stemmingfrom stupidity in AI. For instance, the false alarm incident of Operation Able Archer. And the raison d’etre of ICRAC. There is also this very amusing story.
